Principle of High Magic #125
The greater the depravity of some, the more the corruption of the innocence of others. Innocence is the absence of programming, whether meant to be benevolent or depraved, Seek out that which inspires, and and avoid that which programs the way you see the world. (see its accompanying wheel)
Principle of High Magic #126
The corruption of innocence comes from absorbing others’ worldviews. The inclination to adopt others’ views stems from the deep knowledge that our world is unknowable. The more we can surrender to not knowing, the more we preserve our innocence. (see its accompanying wheel)
From The Book of High Magic~ Almine
If we are not able to retrieve what has been lost, then there must be a purpose for loosing it in the first place…we can still gain understanding to deepen our perspectives. Nothing is lost without leaving a gift in its place…you are always in your own company. There is only you, and the real you never changes. Evolved innocence has the ability to find itself in anything, it is always there because you are always there.

Yes! Thanks for posting this Anna. Very much appreciated!

Guarding something that one imagines will be lost forever is a paranoid device of “toxic purity”.

Rogier, any plans to post the 99 Power Sigils of Innocence here..one per day…..for all.

This post makes me think of a poem by Michael Jackson (the entertainer), a man who was crucified for his innocence by a world that has lost its innocent and so forgotten what it looks like. His fate for me always serves as a good reminder that innocence will not be widely understood and needs to be guarded carefully, and ideally kept out of the spotlight so that it can shine fully undisturbed by the profanity of human society.
“Once there was a child and he was free
Deep inside, he felt the laughter
The mirth and play of nature’s glee
Beauty, love was all he’d see
He knew his power was the power of God
He was so sure, they considered him odd
This power of innocence, of compassion, of light
Threatened the priests and created a fight
In endless ways they sought to dismantle
This mysteroius force which they could not handle
In endless ways they tried to destroy
His simple trust, his boundless joy
His invincible armor was a shield of bliss
Nothing could touch it, no venom, no hiss
The child remained in a state of grace
He wasn’t confined in time or place
In Technicolor dreams, he frolicked and played
While acting his part, in Eternity he stayed
Soothsayers came and fortunes were told
Some were vehement, others were bold
In denouncing this child, this perplexing creature
With the rest of the world he shared no feature
IS he real?He is so strange
His unpredictable nature knows no range
He puzzles us so, is he straight?
What’s his destiny?What’s his fate?
And while they whispered and conspired
Through endless rumors to get him tired
To kill his wonder, trample him near
Burn his courage, fuel his fear
The child remained just simpel, sincere
All he wanted was the mountain high
Color the clouds, paint the sky
Beyond these boundaries, he wanted to fly
In nature’s scheme, never to die
Don’t stop this child, he’s the father of man
Don’t cross his way, he’s part of the plan
I am that child, but so are you
You’ve just forgotten, just lost the clue
Inside your heart sits a Seer
Between his thoughts, he can hear
A melody simple but wondrously clear
The music of life, so precious, so dear
If you could for one moment know
This spark of creation, this exquisite glow
You would come and dance with me
Kindle this fire so we could see
All the children of the Earth
Wave their magic and give new birth
To a world of freedom with no pain
A world of joy, much more sane
Deep inside, you know it’s true
Just find that child, it’s hiding in you.” – Michael Joseph Jackson

Thanks for posting this poem by Michael! I just came across a short interview a couple weeks ago of his publicist who spoke of his childlike wonderment and bliss his being exemplified and why he thought he was an extremely evolved being!

I always saw and loved Michaels’ innocence,,, however that being said, I have deeply appreciated Almine’s words where we are to understand that we need to evolve innocence as naievity to innocence with experience = Wisdom… it is still possible to maintain innocence in our perspectives using the most profound perspectives that Almine has articulated, eg Eternal Perspective, Poetic perspective et al … seeing through, with compassion and Eternal Love
Ciara Young says
Absolutely dear Susan. The whole balanced inner family needs to be involved, particularly the discernment and wisdom of the Sage as you say, otherwise you have the “child running with scissors” phenomenon (innocent, but dangerous).

I love this poem…
The music of life so precious so dear…

I wonder if there is a difference between losing innocence as a little child or as an adult. This may sound naive, but in my encounters with people who suffered sexual abuse as a child I always felt that they can receive the blessing of ‘forgetting’ – meaning that they feel and act like it never happened. When I work with them I see them in their innocence. Frankly, it would make me incredibly sad to see them as scarred for life.

Oh how lovely. Thank you. 🙂

“for once lost, it can never be retrieved again” ??
Edward says
If we could not retrieve these qualities again, then what is the point of this work?
Barbara Kathryn says
Any of us who can recall their early childhood, who have raised a child, who have participated in the childhood of their grandchildren…Know: that innocence ends with schooling. Generally nersery school. For which parents push their baby to prerequisites for admission like potty training, leaving their softy and pacifier behind, not clinging to mummy’s apron strings. Remember: Raising your hand or finger to ask a question; waiting to be called on? And if you spontaneously want to pipe up with “Why?” you’ll rarely be called on again.
So the qualities of life lived innocently are forfeited for nearly everyone by their parents, who see ño other way. I did that, as it was done to me. And retain no societal memory of what Innocence is.
Ciara Young says
This seems to contradict the statement on the Diary that innocence is found in the moment and cannot be tainted by the past, no? Or would this be referring to a complete loss of innocence, as in becoming corrupted?
Alexandra says
Yes I wonder too
Denise says
Hi Ciara………..The Diary referred to “Purity” …and not Innocence.
Ciara says
Ah, that’s right. Thanks Denise!
Dhani says
Ciara, to me it feels like, as long as we guard our heart’s innocence and the mind as well, we can always find pockets of innocence in different areas of our lives. I have seen it as my parents grow old, past their 83rd year. They are remaining more and more in their childhood state. This is because they are somewhat human, has to do with memory loss. But, for God beings, that were never born, this is not a criteria that applies.
