Everything has a larger purpose, so what purpose does it serve when a whole group of people – such as one’s family, or coworkers for instance – turns against one? I feel so hurt when one person’s hostile opinion, turns a whole group, that I felt really attached to, against me (a group who by now should have known better than what the gossip portrays.)

You’re right. Everything has a bigger purpose. The situation you describe could have many larger purposes — but one could be:
If a godbeing loves a group of people in a specific city, a protection rests on that city, that could prevent catastrophic events or hardships from taking place in that location.
Hardships happen for a purpose that could be interfered with by a godbeing’s attachment. The breaking of the bonds between the godbeing and the group rejecting him or her, will allow events to unfold that are scheduled to occur.
I love them, and I let them go. I’ve seen large quantity of friends (unrelated to one another other) dissipate recently and one or two authentic friends return; I am changing, and it’s testing the TRUE modus operatus around me.
Only the authentic souls remain with me.
Gratefully, I have met a few over time and I really praise their depth. 💙

Am I reading last paragraph correctly? Sometimes we are to detach from a group because they are supposed to experience hardship, chaos, karma, etc and a godbeing would lessen that?
When family or co-workers should all over you. One has to ask the question if one even want to be attached to them. When the tree expresses and dances in the wind it shakes the fruit from the branches. Those that are supposed to be around you will stay attached until their season is over.
A farmer went out to plant some seeds. 4 As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. 5 Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. 6 But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. 7 Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. 8 Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! 9 Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.

OH this is so very helpful. As I find myself disconnecting from extended family members who no longer value my opinion. Thank you for this.
Are we not however encouraged to surround areas we are aware of with Light Explosions? For extended family (with the new PSigil) and groups. To use the Love, Praise, Gratitude sigils to rebalance agressivity in a relationship, which I recall was suggested for a child being bullied at school.
And the PSigils for countries often mention harmonising the weather & climate conditions, along with poverty & social conditions.
Learning through hardship is a last resort when people haven’t gained adequate insight to leverage their conscientious…or something along those lines. Not quite sure.
I have always trusted, hopefully, that our caring presence in an area, or directed towards someplace, lifts it when ready.and eventually spins off those resistent to spiritual growth.
Perhaps the key issue here is ‘attachment’?
I have strongly seen how my presence avoids things and devastating climatic events here and in my area.
