The Seer:
An explanation of the ‘protective’ component of the Menerech.

Based on the law of the cosmos, that what we protect against, we give energy to and strengthen.

1. To guard against = to remain neutral and stand in strength as a barrier that denies access.
2. To protect against = to anticipate hostile or opposing force targeting what you are responsible for.

Angelic action when faced with hostile intent, is a perfect example of “guarding” that which is its duty to keep from being violated. In the #1 definition above, the focus is on that which is being guarded. In #2, the focus is on that which is guarded against.
