What does it mean if I dream of a demon giving me advice to go south? (It didn’t feel like an actual experience — just a dream.)

Actual demons could invade our Dreamtime to mislead us or negatively impact our lives. But that would have left you with a strong sensation of something unwanted having happened. In your case, this was not what happened. As you say it was just a dream, and therefore we should interpret it like any other dream — using dream symbols.✶
A demon as a dream symbol, indicates the subconscious, or the influence of suppressed feelings surfacing.
In the dream your subconscious is advising you that the solution to healing the areas of your life that are dormant and holding you back from enjoying life, is in the physical (the south indicates physical life).

You can restore your inner power by doing one thing each day in your physical life that is beyond your comfort zone. (For example: take a cold shower, smile at a stranger, etc.)

So interesting! I had a dream a couple of years ago now that was of a robot on the moon telling me to ‘head North’. It felt like I was there.
