The Dewdrop

March 23, 2024 by Rogier 16 Comments

A crystal ball for a fairy child
To watch the starry sky roll by?
A liquid gem for an elfin boy;
To take delight in a treasured toy?

In the verdant heart of a nasturtium leaf
Tiny creatures come to see
A dewdrop glistening in the morning light
The butterfly too comes to see the sight

“Sweet nectar for my children!” The caterpillar exclaimed
“I was here first, you came late.
When I bathe, my spots will shine”
Said the ladybug, “it should be mine!”

“A thing of beauty should be for delight”
Said a forest fey clad in light
Hushed in silence all considered what they’d heard
Only the elves ignored her words

In excitement they jumped up and down
The dewdrop rolled and fell to the ground
With a sigh by all, its loss was mourned
In soothing tones spoke the dawn:

“Glad tidings I bring, for you to hear.
It will come again; do not fear
When once more I deliver the sun
A dewdrop I’ll bring for everyone”

That’s a holographic image of the forest seen in the dew drop. Something like this is what I imagine we look like to the Infinite One Life.

    I love this poem too.

It is interesting that I have been ‘revisitng’, in a strange way, certain things from the time it was first posted.

    Thank you, Almine.

The nasturtium is such a beautiful plant and herb for ladybugs and various other insects. I certainly believe there are fairies concerned.

    Thank you dear Almine.
