Urchba — The Nature of Leaving an Impression.
Throughout the ages different cultures have gone about it in different ways, but they have all had the same desire: to leave an impression. To create monuments, to create legacies of wisdom, to create legacies of bravery; to become strong as a tribe, to assist in some way to perpetuate the influence that they have on life.
Men and women have sought to leave their impression through their children; living vicariously through the child, pushing that child into accomplishment. Or, in some way, trying to make up for their own childhood, by the way they parent their child. This again, is trying to leave our mark, that we didn't accomplish in some other way, through our offspring.

And then there's the irony of 'educating' one's children, i.e. the sons, to carry on the family tradition.
Like that southern officer whom Forest Gump continually saves from fulfilling his proud family's destiny of being killed in action, with his 'boots on'.
