Oh wow how fortunate! I'll never forget the taste of blackberries eaten from the tree, we just wanted to keep eating them. So delicious, one of natures most tasty fruits (next to fresh / wild Mangos) ๐ Out of what nature shares with us it's the trees and bushes that give us fruit I appreciate so much. It's natures win win how they effortlessly procreate and regenerate from being picked and enjoyed with all the health benefits, along with the shade and oxygen the trees provide. It would be a dream come test to live in or around a fruit orchard.

Yum! Eat them alot! Interestingly, where we live, it is called Las Moras. The Blackberries. ๐

I planted one last year, I better go and see if I can find it in the long grass
Dhani says
Yeahhh, I used to pick those when I lived on Vancouver island. Some years they are really sweet and plump and juicy. ๐

They look beautiful and juicy! What a lovely gift indeed!
A wonderful OO ( dear sister/friend) that lives by me always brings fruit when she visits my home, such a sweet gift to bring fruit to enjoy. She is an amazing vegetable gardener and fruit tree grower, she makes it look effortless, but I know she works at it with deep enjoyment because it provides so much for her family.
I have banana trees that grow and multiply abundantly, along with trees of orange, grapefruit, some wild elderberry, and some nice wild blackberries too and my favorite loquats (which I have to get my share before my squirrels get to them!) I am so grateful for what grows easily here without much fuss from me.
We have had a roaming black bear, and very cheeky, took down two banana trees, flat on the ground I believe he sat on them! Big Bear!

Hey Anna,
I lived with bears for a while in Northern Ontario. If you put human urine around the base of the tree, the bears will not go near them.
The bear was probably just trying to rub against it to mark its territory ๐
Anna says
Thank you Dhani, I did not know that! ๐
Maria says
to get a good crop of bananas it is recommended to leave only three stalks every year. So if possible look for buds choosing big healthy ones. They will bloom with gratitude!

Anna: wow, such a variety of tropical & northerly fruit to grow โฆ + bears! I'm guessing you live in northern California?
I recall 2-3 visits to Newport at the right time of year to pick, share & enjoy juicy, sweet blackberries also. Wonderful, tasty memories.๐

Two banana trees down, but left with a great image of the bear! Well, I was left with a great image anyway…
Your corner of Florida sounds like a wonderful place to have settled… I did no know there were bears there; crocodiles, yes… ๐ , but not bears…
Miriam says
I enjoyed them this summer too… and picked some for neighbours. Those look lovely.
Greg says
Had blackberries for breakfast this morning! Timely message
