In my journey into the future, I saw that the present age in which we live was known as the age in which humanity lost its sense of what is beauty, and what is not.
My art professor at Oregon State University said that during a civilization’s decline, the message of its art becomes a distorted scream. How true! Let us honor the proper use of our language and the contribution to our perception yielded by the literature of our deepest thinkers that depth may yet again return to the expression of life on Earth

I have only just recently recovered some pieces of furniture left to me by my mother, and have a deeper appreciation for them now; for how they were made. I almost couldn’t believe it when I saw the photo of the side table on the Diary this morning; I have one in the same style, though less ornate. I am amazed it withstood multiple van journeys in recent years. I had actually forgotten about it, because I had been so rueing the fact that a smaller one had been broken during a previous transit… My mother also kept up standards of refinement and beauty. I rarely saw her after leaving school (and even during what would be called secondary school, it was only for the holidays). When she died, her best friend said that an era was dying with her, which sounded about right…

Replicas of that side table were sold by the Bombay company. The company has since gone out of business but you may find those tables second hand somewhere.
