Yes, it refers to this, but it could also refer to adopting foreign cultures’ value systems and uncivilized behavior patterns.
For example, if a nation deliberately lowers its standards to fit in with foreign immigrants, in order to be regarded as avant-garde, they are opening themselves up to that which is foreign to their hard won level of culture and civilization.

The symbolism could also apply to an individual lowering their own standards, to “fit” in a relationship?

Oh….okay then…..I hope this is just a stepping stone in a newly emerging “world” culture that evolves the heart of man to a more spiritual one.
Immigration is such a diverse and complex subject…and I know there is only perfection unfolding….the concept of “supported diversity” comes to mind here….
I come from England London I’ve been here in Australia for about 45 years my three children are Australian It’s so very annoying to see what is happening over there my birth place The governments are not even trying to hide their corruption, wickedness, and their stupidity any more it’s just so awful to see. I still have family there and I feel for them. And unfortunately Australia looks like it’s going in the same direction .
Thank you for this message and the importance of cultural integrity: made me think of valuing ones own culture (what is best in it), and not thinking another would be better, higher, or more spiritual.
