Most are familiar with the adage, “may your reach exceed your grasp”. But some wonder when the desire for an outcome is an inspired motivation that inspires growth, and when it is a greedy obsession that no amount of acquisition can assuage.

Masters carefully scrutinize the motives that drive their desires and compel them to act. Self-awareness is the most basic component of a life based on authenticity and free from social conditioning. Determine whether your desire to achieve or acquire is the result of unrecapitulated neediness left over from unresolved past issues, or is based on an inspired prompting of a self-sovereign heart, by asking if it stems from a need or just a preference.
